Client Spotlight: Associated General Contractors of Missouri (AGCMO)

We are deeply grateful for our clients, and nothing brings us greater joy than watching them succeed. It is a privilege to contribute to their success by helping secure the right insurance coverage and implementing effective strategies for their businesses.

Today, we are excited to highlight one of our most valued clients: Leonard Toenjes, CAE, longtime President of the Associated General Contractors of Missouri (AGCMO). We are honored to support AGCMO’s important work representing a diverse range of construction contractors and industry-related companies across Missouri. AGCMO offers a comprehensive suite of services to building, highway, transportation, utility, and infrastructure contractors. These services include networking opportunities, industry insights, advocacy, safety training, workforce recruitment and training, labor relations, and diversity and inclusion initiatives, all available at local, state, and national levels.

Read on to learn more about the current trends and challenges in the construction industry and how AGCMO stays ahead of the curve.

AGCMO provides training opportunities at every stage, from elementary school to company ownership. Their elementary school reading program introduces students to career possibilities in the industry, while the Build My Future program offers 9th through 12th graders a deep dive into construction career pathways. Apprenticeship programs provide hands-on training, guiding participants to journey worker status. Superintendent and foreman training enhances leadership skills, empowering craft workers to become field leaders. Leadership training for project managers supports their career progression into management roles. Additionally, AGCMO offers a wide range of safety training programs to support workers at all levels.

“As president of AGCMO, I am most proud of the team we’ve assembled to serve our members. We have a fantastic group of association professionals, each an expert in their field. Whether it’s advocacy, safety, labor relations, or networking events, our AGCMO team is second to none in meeting the needs of our members.”

AGCMO also hosts a wide variety of networking events throughout the year, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner meetings, an annual convention, webinars, golf tournaments, sporting clays tournaments, a fishing tournament, committee meetings, and various virtual and in-person seminars. Signature events like the annual awards program, the Co-Op meeting with the Department of Transportation, and the annual convention draw hundreds of attendees each year.

As the construction industry faces a rapidly evolving landscape, AGCMO is committed to addressing the critical challenges that lie ahead. Current challenges include recruiting the workforce of tomorrow and adapting to evolving technology. The demand for craft workers and field leaders has reached unprecedented levels in the construction industry. AGCMO is proactively engaging both traditional and nontraditional workforce sources to help members meet this demand. Additionally, there is a strong emphasis on technology training to help members stay ahead of the rapidly changing technological needs in the commercial construction sector.

Each week, AGCMO releases a podcast to keep the industry and its members informed about the issues AGCMO is addressing and the services it offers. The podcast features interviews with construction industry leaders and experts from sectors including building, highway, heavy construction, and infrastructure.

We are proud to support AGCMO in safeguarding their business goals in every way possible. Our hands-on approach is unmatched, and we are committed to being there for our clients at every stage.
